Middle Lake and Ibis Rookery Bird Hide

Middle Reedy Lake and the Ibis Rookery Bird Hide is located 10km north of Kerang. The lake, with its rich deposits of reeds, hence the name, is the principal breeding ground of the Ibis. A viewing tower along the lake produces a panoramic view of the natural beauty of the lake. However, if visited during the Spring at dawn or dusk, the view becomes truly breathtaking, as the sky becomes thick with tens of thousands of Ibis, as they traverse to and from their nests. This natural phenomenon just adds to the numerous attractions found only in the tranquil, rural town of Kerang.
